1. Introduction
The Socinian Exchange of Letters
A Critical Digital Edition
DFG Project, 2018-2020 (hopefully 2023)
“The graph-based digital edition of Socinian correspondence, funded by the DFG, aims to provide a relevant corpus of primary sources, which, combined with analysis tools, will form a basis for conducting interdisciplinary research on the transconfessional struggle for a new balance between theology, early modern science and politics in Europe.”

- transnational protestant minority
- scholarly network
- discussion of religion, science and politics: socinianism was a precursor to the enlightenment
The Sources
- ~2133 letters exchanged between 1580–1740
- political reports, copperplate engravings that were enclosed in the letters
- there is currently no complete edition
- the originals are scattered all over Europe
